ASSESSMENT OF REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES EXPOSED TO ELEVATED TEMPERATURES
Rozsypalová, Iva ; Kolář,, Karel (referee) ; Vítek,, Jan (referee) ; Daněk, Petr (advisor)
Doctoral thesis is focused on the assessment of concrete structures after fire exposure and extends the knowledge in view of the main aims of the research defined in the objectives of his work. Thanks to the performed fire tests of full-scale concrete specimens, material characteristics corresponding to actual fire load have been assessed for different temperature levels. Resulting from presented research, main steps of assessment procedure have been recommended for both destructive and non-destructive tests of concrete after exposure to fire. Furthermore, behaviour of FRP reinforcement at elevated temperatures have been investigated. Aiming to determine the effects of fire exposure on reinforced concrete structures, experimental program have been defined and performed, including concrete beams reinforced with either steel, or composite reinforcement with glass or carbon fibres and subjected to experimentally simulated fire load. After cooling, bending test have been executed. Above mentioned experimental program was further complemented by extensive numerical analysis. Finally, presented work provides guidelines regarding further investigations required in this field of research.
Design of structures with FRP reinforcement
Matušíková, Anna ; Vácha, Jaroslav (referee) ; Štěpánek, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis presents available FRP software for calculating load bearing capacity of the structures reinforced with FRP and compares them between each other. Furthermore theory and algorithm of my own software is presented here. Load bearing capacity of structures which are reinforced with non-metallic reinforcement and loaded by combination of normal force and bending moment can be solved by my programme. Effects of high temperatures on the concrete structures can be included in the calculation. In the second part of the thesis is calculated load-bearing capacity and deflection of the real beam reinforced with FRP reinforcement and load-bearing capacity of member with FRP reinforcement with effect of elevated temperature. This has been done using my software. Comparison of results from hand calculation and laboratory load-bearing testing is done at the end. This laboratory testing was accomplished by Institute of Concrete and Mansory Structures at our faculty.
Database of material properties
Nagy, Gašpar ; Cipín, Radoslav (referee) ; Janda, Marcel (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis focuses to create a database of the material properties and user interface for editing these properties. The first part of the project notifies us about the basic characteristics of materials. The next point talks about the materials which are used in electrical engineering to manufacture electrical machines and other appliances. The next part of the bachelor’s thesis describes the database design of material properties. The end of the thesis describes how to use the whole user interface and how it works.
Weathering and accelerated aging of high density polyethylene mixtures with regranulate
Bruzl, Dominik ; Tocháček, Jiří (referee) ; Bálková, Radka (advisor)
This master thesis deals with the effect of multiple extrusion (1, 2, 3) and the addition of 30, 60 and 90 % of this recycled material on the weathering and accelerated ageing of high density polyethylene (HDPE) copolymer. The weathering lasted 9 months and the accelerated ageing 1000 h at 65 °C. The degree of material degradation was assessed from changes in mechanical and physical properties and compositional changes using dynamic mechanical analysis and tensile testing, differential compensation calorimetry, thermogravimetric analysis and infrared spectrometry in the full attenuated reflection mode. The measurements showed that repeated extrusion as well as the addition of recycle material to the original one (R0) slightly slows down the photo-oxidative degradation during first month, but after that it does not have a negative or significant positive effect on the progress and rate of overall material degradation. A certain exception was the recycled material after the 3rd extrusion (R3), where the original properties comparable to R0 did not change much during ageing. The mechanical properties of the blends were better or comparable to R0 during ageing, but after months 6 and 9 the breaking strength of most of them decreased substantially as a result of the shortening of the chains. Accelerated ageing caused significant embrittlement in all samples, resulting in a reduction in yield strength by about half and almost immediate failure.
Thermo-electric solar generator
Kočvárek, Ondřej ; Jakubová, Ivana (referee) ; Gregor, Jan (advisor)
The introduction of this work is devoted to the description of physical principals and condtruction of modern semiconductor thermoelectric transformers. This work describes thein basic characters and the most commonly used materials for thein production. Further, it mentions the basic principals and physical effects that describe the thermoelectric conversion of energy and the nondestructive method for establishing the basic material characteristics of thermoelectric transformers. The substantiv part of this work is the measuring of the material’s characteristics of the accessible thermoelectric elements through the medium of experimental measuring network. The optimal construction of thermoelectric solar generators used for individual thermoelectric elements are designed based on the taken measurements and the evaluation of material’s characteristics of the observed thermoelectric elements.
Metal coatings by Cold Spray - Impact of Trajectory Parameters on Mechanical Properties, path optimisation for minimisation of material consumption
Kalina, Jan ; Zelený, Martin (referee) ; Řehořek, Lukáš (advisor)
This thesis describes the consideration about influence of trajectory of cold spray technology on materiál properties of a sample. The parameters of porosity and residual stress in the applied layer based on different types of spray trajectories are evaluated.
Durability testing of replaceable inserts in cylindrical turning of carbon steel
Smolík, Martin ; Vítek, Jiří (referee) ; Sedlák, Josef (advisor)
The thesis deals with the problems in the field of durability testing of replaceable inserts for longitudinal steel turning. The main objective of the thesis is the analysis of the cutting process based on the results of the performed cutting tests. The cutting tests will be carried out comparatively by testing pairs of inserts, compared to each other. Wear observation is carried out by optical method using a workshop microscope and special software designed to process the acquired images. The output of the work will be an illustration of the different behaviour of the standard and the upgraded set of cutting inserts under different configurations of cutting conditions. The work provides a comprehensive view of the cutting tool testing process and quantifies the degree of influence of the various factors entering into the cutting edge wear process.
